web design methodology
a bespoke methodology to successfully meet objectives, timelines and budget

Website design can be a complex task…without processes and control the focus, quality, cost and timescales of a web-based project can quickly become unmanageable.
this is how we do it
define the project
The foundation of any successful website design project is the definition stage.
The three cornerstones of this stage are to define the:
- communication brief (branding, tone, audience, content, scope)
- technical brief (features, functionality, integration, hosting, technology)
- marketing brief (search engine positioning, advertising, eMarketing)
The end result is a finalised Web Project Brief that can be estimated and scheduled with confidence.
content and structure
This stage identifies and assigns responsibilities for provision of all the content for the site. Some of the areas covered in this stage include:
- auditing existing site content
- planning a new site map
- identifying keywords and phrases for search engine optimisation
- writing copy
- foreign language translations
- identifying key paths and scenarios
- identifying feeds from third-party websites
- sourcing images, identifying new photography and video
- identifying new illustrations or animation requirements
- assigning responsibilities and delivery schedules for content
Tip: We always recommend that your web copy be written especially for the web rather than just lifted from printed material, as this is a different medium and will maximise its effectiveness.
design
We will produce a number of visual concepts for you (depending on the project brief). The elements that go into this stage include:
- project brief (from the definition stage)
- available content (from the content stage)
- industry/product research
- competitor research
No production takes place until the design concept has been approved and signed-off.
production
The production stage turns the concept into reality. Some of the elements covered in this stage are:
- hosting & domain names
- front-end development – html and javascript programming
- back-end development – databases, content management systems
- accessibility and web standards
- content integration
- image and video optimisation
- meta tags
- QA and testing
